Dating someone with OCD and having some issues ocdlover I need help from someone familiar with OCD and not general friends who will just tell me my boyfriend is a freak and to run for the hills. I really like him but I’m having some trouble understanding all that is going on. My boyfriend is one of the sweetest, nicest guys I know. When we first met he was very shy and reserved. I actually thought he might be gay because he was so different and was a bit feminine, but I soon learned that he is just a shy, nerdy, artsy soft hearted type, and a musician and not like most men i met. I quickly realized he liked me and we have moved very fast. We have great physical chemistry and have fun together. He is a very tender lover and makes me laugh. However, I started noticing some strange quirks and idiosyncrasies in his behaviors. I notice though that it’s more.

The door was open, but my thoughts blocked the way out. It was May I was 22 and hungry. After swimming a few lengths of the pool, I had lifted myself from the water and headed for the locker rooms.

Going down the steps, I had scraped the back of my heel on the sharp edge of the final step. It left a small graze through which blood bulged into a blob that hung from my broken skin. I transferred the drop to my finger and a second swelled to take its place. I pulled a paper towel from above the sink to press to my wet heel.

When an Ex Won’t Let Go

The partner of a person with OCPD may constantly feel scrutinized, as if their every fault is being examined on a regular basis. The person with OCPD may criticize often this is especially true about physical defects, even those which other people would never even notice , but may not compensate by verbally or physically showing any positive emotions.

The spouse of a person with OCPD often becomes more passive, trying to avoid conflict as much as possible. The person with OCPD then becomes more and more controlling with ever more perfectionist tendencies. The spouse may bail out of conversations in order to minimize aggressive or critical responses. Children Often, a parent with OCPD will rule the home “with an iron fist,” demanding that the children obey at all times.

It is hard to remember a time when the marriage was tranquil. Rather, each year brings more drama, intensity, frustration, distance, and hostility.

Fear of Choosing the Wrong Person or Gender My 21st anniversary of being with my husband is coming up. I remember our 3rd anniversary, as we sat on the floor of my dorm room, and I struggled to tell him my fears. I had just gone to a presentation by a “feminists against pornography” group, with a slide show of violent images found in magazines, and the images were stuck in my head.

I felt a claustrophobic dread that I would always be trapped by these images, a barrier between me and living my life with any peace or joy. I had been reading a book on women’s friendships, and combined with the scary things I had just seen, my OCD went into overdrive trying to figure out if it was safe to be in a relationship with a man, whether I was making a mistake, showing extremely poor judgement.

As my anniversary approached, the obsessing intensified, and permeated all my thoughts and feelings. Was I putting myself in danger? Would this man betray me or hurt me? It’s hard enough to have these questions as a 20 year old, in any context, but in the context of OCD, I felt crazy. My first date with this man was to hear a feminist folksinger. I had never met anyone who listened to me like this man did, and took my thoughts seriously.

But my OCD wanted absolute certainty that he wouldn’t become a monster. My best guess would’ve been that no, this was unlikely, but the OCD whittled away at this knowledge, kept demanding I figure things out.

I will try to be brief, but it is unlikely that I will pull that off! I met a guy 6 months ago and we were both immediately attracted to each other. I finally started researching different things and discovered he has OCPD my unprofessional diagnosis, but I have no doubt about it.

A big scary man who was totally ambiguous in the way he spoke so that we never knew when he was serious or joking and woe betide you if you got it wrong. We were either humiliated or scolded.

But what about age? And what about age as it relates to older women involved with younger men? A recent article in Oprah magazine looked at a handful of real-life May-December romances, focusing mainly on those between older women and younger men. Couples in this situation had to address the fertility concern head-on, with some choosing to take the leap relatively quickly while others took a pass.

Scary and possibly dangerous, yes, hard, yes. This man was so overly accomplished and successful but has been single for 20 years! Compulsive Pathological Lying

Just as it is with sadness, anger, and all other negative emotions, it is very tempting to fix, control, get rid of, or escape the difficult feeling of sexual frustration right away. But it is exactly these immediately gratifying control mechanisms that set us men up for failure in the long run, especially in our relationships. As painful as it is, the best thing to do in the long run is to NOT do anything when the difficult feeling of sexual frustration comes.

When boys first experience the difficult feeling of sexual frustration, many of them are left to figure out on their own how to deal with it.

Hi everyone, I’ve stumbled upon this website, and wonder if this is the “problem” with my man-friend (I hesitate to say “partner” because our relaionship has been up and down, on and off for almost five years, and I still dont know where I stand with him).

July 15, I’m new to this whole forum thing, but i was hoping to find someone that can help me out, or maybe share some similar stories to help me out. I’m 23, and i’m had ocd since i was about 12 or 13 thats when i first started noticing the symptoms anyway. Through the years i’ve been on different anti-depressants to try to help calm the obsessions and compulsions, and i’ve been to numerous counselors. Although I am much better today than 10 years ago.. Normal things that any person would worry about, i blow up into a huge ordeal.

It’s like i can’t even differentiate what is a “normal” thing to fight about, and what is “not normal”. I have a hard time trusting people because i have been hurt in the past. Then my OCD kicks in and i assume that anyone i’m with is going to hurt me. I obsess a lot about my current boyfriends X girlfriend. I’m constantly obsessing that he will take her back or that maybe he still has feeling for her- even thought he tells me that none of this is true.

I constantly question and obsess over how much he really cares about me or whether he even cares about me at all. I’m sick of ruining relationships because of obsessing about them. I was just wondering if anyone out there has any similar problems. I know exactly what you mean

Apr 05,  · Best Answer: Be grateful you didn’t marry him. I work with an ocpd and have given him information about it a few times. The last time, he earnestly told me that there isn’t anything wrong with him, he’s just “a loser.” Any excuse is better than the truth. That’s because the compulsion is Status: Resolved.

According to the Myers-Briggs profile, the INTJ personality is comprised of introverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging traits. A relationship with this quiet but self-sure individual can be very enlightening to the participants as a couple as well as on an individual level. Even if an INTJ relationship does not work out, both individuals usually walk away having benefited from the experience.

This individual gathers information and then processes the data in a manner that is more abstract than fact-based. This character is very logical when it comes to making decisions and typically does not have a problem with being proven wrong because they so enjoy being introduced to new ideas and procedures, especially those which can be put to practical use.

This sort of person is capable of being proficient in several areas of expertise although they will usually choose to master one particular subject, in which they will likely pursue a career. INTJ is definitely a perfectionist at heart. Planning, rules, and deadlines help to reinforce the sense of order that INTJ craves. This person would be greatly put-off by disorder and messiness because they not only find it distracting but also inefficient. They are especially dedicated to pursuits that strike up feelings of intrigue or exhilaration.

Although INTJ definitely prefers to be in a tidy and productive environment, they can become frustrated in a stifling environment. This is especially true with romantic relationships, as INTJ needs to be able to have the freedom to seek out and mull over new concepts.
